The History of Cannabis Museum Moving to Georgia Avenue

Based on the signs in the windows at 3626 Georgia Avenue, it looks like the History of Cannabis museum is moving from Park Road to Georgia Avenue. It opened on Park Road on April 20th of this year, and you can read more about it from a DCist article here.

According to some who toured the Park Road location, a tour through this cannabis-focused museum provides an education chronicling the industry of the plant from its inception to modern day. Museum exhibits change semi-annually and elaborate on the medical, legal, cultural, technological, historical information and events impacting the cannabis industry.

Owners of Colony Club to Open Pizza Place Next Door

Colony Club at 3118 Georgia Avenue, NW. The owners will be creating a pizza shop next door at 3120 Georgia.

Great news for Georgia Avenue and the growing number of small businesses that are located there, according to the Washington City Paper, Colony Club is expanding into the space next door at 3120 Georgia with plans to open a pizza shop.

Were sure to learn more details about this venture as it moves forward as the current plan is to serve a small selection of beer, wine, and a couple of cocktails that pair well with pizza — and the typical ABRA license process include the opportunity for public engagement.

 

 

Brief Update on La Morenita

Last week, La Morenita (at Georgia Avenue & Newton Place) was closed for 96-hours by MPD following a week with two violent incidents that occurred in connection to the restaurant. While the business has reopened, they will not be serving alcohol for the time being.

The Alcohol Beverage Control Board suspended La Morenita’s license as a result of the MPD temporary closing. An ABRA hearing is in the process of being scheduled, but no date has been set. There are a number of outcomes that could result from the ABRA hearing, from nothing to additional restrictions or conditions attached to the license and/or fines.

New Workout Studio, Sweat DC, Open on Georgia Avenue

At the beginning of October Sweat DC opened at 3232 Georgia Avenue. SWEAT DC is a 45 minute workout party designed to break down barriers and build a stronger you! Sessions include 35 people and take participants through a total body strength workout. The Website describes it as “Tone your muscle, burn through fat, sculpt your body, have a little fun, and find the new you all to the best beats, and a motivational coach!”

The Midlands Hosting Welcome Back Dogs Halloween Party Tomorrow

To celebrate the return of dogs back to the patio of The Midlands, they are having a celebration on Halloween to commemorate the occasion. Below is the announcement from their Facebook page.

Mayor Bowser signed the dog legislation! Dogs are welcome back to our patio and we’re celebrating on Oct 31st! Free hotdogs for all dog’s with humans, a Flying Dog Brewery Beer Special and a raffle to win a Whistle3 Dog GPS & Activity Monitor! Tickets will be given to all humans who visit between 4P and 8P with their dog. Humans who are with dogs in costumes will get 2 tickets!! Dogs may bring as many humans as they like.
