Saturday Events at the Park View Rec Center

January 15, 2010

I’ve just learned of Saturday activities that are occurring at the Rec Center and in partnership with Greater DC Cares.

One program is for children and is from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For full details, click on the image to the right.

The other program is focused on adults. It includes basic assistence in:

  • Keeping a budget;
  • Balancing a check book;
  • Finding student loans; and,
  • Improving computer skills.

It sounds like a great way to learn for young and old. More details can be obtained by calling Katie Delaney at 434-227-9599.

Highlights from Santa’s Workshop

December 21, 2009

You may remember that the Park View Recreation Center played host for the DC Cares and local schools Santa’s Workshop this year. While a summary of this year’s program is still being compiled, early reports indicate that over 700 kids participated. One of the highlights was a visit by NASA Administrator Charles Bolden on Monday, December 14th. Mr. Bolden is a four-time shuttle astronaut and the first African-American to head NASA on a permanent basis.
