Halloween Spirit Popping up in Park View

Over the past few weeks Halloween decorations have begun to crop up around the neighborhood. The first one I was aware of was on Irving Street, but today I’m going to show a few from Rock Creek Church Road.
Something about the pumpkin (above) really made me smile. Also, the house at 718 Rock Creek Church Road (below) traditionally goes all out. I’ll post additionally photos of decorate houses as we get closer to Halloween weekend.

Halloween decorations on Irving St, NW
The first official day of fall (autumn) was September 23rd; the first sign of fall was the fallen leaves in my yard; and, now, the first decorations of the fall holiday (Halloween) are appearing.
So Long, Christmas (see you next year)!
January 7, 2011Whether the you consider the twelfth day of Christmas to be January 5th or 6th, I think its safe to say we are now past the twelve days of Christmas. Traditionally, holiday decorations start to come down about this time … so as a way to say farewell, I decided to show two final houses decorated for the season. Hopefully they will last us until next year.

Christmas at the White House

I’ve always heard how nice it is to go to the White House and go on a tour … especially at Christmas. Yet, I hadn’t been there since a school trip back in 1982. With the advent of the additional security measures over the years, I’ve also not given any serious thought to attempting to go on a tour for quite some time.
So, when Councilmember Graham’s office contacted me last week to see if I would be interested in going to see the holiday decorations, I jumped at the chance. I also owe Graham and his staff a huge thank you for thinking of me among the many Ward 1 residents they reached out to. I think it’s nice that councilmembers are able to organize tours such as this one for their constituents.
Since I know there are many people who probably won’t see the decorations for themselves this year, I’m sharing the photos I took here so that we can all enjoy the decorations together.

Area Holiday Decorations Beginning to Appear
