Former Amanuel Market Retooling as Coffee Shop
I’ve been hearing scuttlebutt that the former Amanuel Market located on the southeast corner of Georgia Avenue and Rock Creek Church Road will be becoming a coffee shop. There’s certainly been a lot of work going on there lately.
In checking out the building permit database at DCRA, looks like this is indeed what is intended. Following is the description from DCRA:
“USE CHANGE FROM CONVENIENCE STORE WITH ACCESSORY PREPARED FOOD SHOP TO FOOD PREPARATION AND COFFEE SHOP. BY KEEPING THE EXISTING MECHANICAL , ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING AS IS WITH THE ADDITION OF ADA COMPLIANCE HANDICAP ACCESS BATHROOM, THREE COMPARTMENT SINK , UNDER COUNTER FREEZER AND COFFEE BREW.”
I think a coffee shop will do well at this location and hoping it turns out great!

Hope you’re right, though it’ll be between Qualia (roasting!) and Colony Club. Not sure the crossover with Dunkin donuts.
I may be wrong but I thought I saw something about this space being something else, like a spa/massage thing. Coffee sounds much better (and I’m very fuzzy on the permits – sounds like you quoted).
They have started construction – at a glance 7/11 it appeared they had taken the small space down to the studs.
