Georgia Avenue Fall Fest is This Saturday
Georgia Ave Fall Fest will be this Saturday, October 22, 12-5pm, in Bruce Monroe Park. Organized by volunteers with Georgia Ave Thrive, this neighborhood-based event will feature local Georgia Ave performers, businesses and restaurants along with government and non-government organizations that provide services and volunteer opportunities for area residents. Kids activities will include face painting, crafts, storytelling, and interactive theater. Performers feature salsa (Salsa with Silvia) and hip hop dancers (Dance Institute of Washington, Building Rocs), steel drum youth band (PanLara), bilingual drama (Teatro de la Luna), and indie rock (French Admirals). Supported by Anne’s Ace Hardware, we will also be selling pumpkins. Food vendors will offer a variety of cuisine options, including Ana’s Mexican/Salvadoran, Petworth Cafe’s Indian/Pakistani, Heat da Spot’s and Kokeb’s Ethiopian, Morgan’s Southern fried fish, Alfie’s Asian food cart, Bjorn’s gluten-free baked goods and bravo bar’s hot dogs!
Volunteers interested in helping out are still welcome to join for set-up, activity support throughout the Fest, and clean-up. More information available by emailing GeorgiaAveThrive (at) gmail (dot) com.
