Raze Permits Issued for 3223-3225 Georgia Avenue

3225 Georgia(3223-3225 Georgia and 650 Lamont Street, NW)

A number of people have noticed that 3223-3225 Georgia Avenue is fenced in which is a good sign that development could be soon. In checking with DCRA, I was able to learn that raze permits were issued on August 9th for everything on the two lots, though building permits haven’t been issued yet.

Development of this site is by Brick Lane, with a building designed by Nelson Architects. The new building will be a mixed-use development of 15,000 square feet providing space for nine apartments and ground floor retail. I like that the plans keep the large outdoor patio space.

    Great to see there is some progress going on at this site. I like the building design, but I notice that there is absolutely no room for any kind of street trees what so ever. Is there still time to provide input on the design? This would be a huge missed opportunity. The way it is now, there are 3 large trees around the properties. Keeping those in place during construction would be the best route.

      Great observation. The project is completely by-right so there was not ANC or community review. That stated, the trees are on public property and the building can’t encroach on public property without going through public process. Let me contact the developer. This could simply be a removal of the trees in the drawings so that we can see the building.

    Agreed — a wonderful improvement. But the TREES MUST BE PRESERVED. Kent please do what you can to make sure those trees are not cut down!!!

    i really like how this building looks. not overly modern, but looks still looks fresh. can’t wait for this improvement.

    I like this idea a lot as a near-by resident. Will be nice to walk round the corner with fewer junkies sleeping on the side walk assholes passing out dime bags.
