At last week’s United Neighborhood Coalition meeting it was shared that there is a new Earth  Spring Farm CSA Pick up location in Park View located at Warder Street and Manor Place. To be honest, I had to look up what a “CSA” is. In short, it sounds like a food co-op in a way, where residents who are interested in purchasing farm fresh produce buy a share in a farm’s harvest, and can chose between sizes or, in some cases, can chose to customize what is in their share.

The following is from the Earth Spring Farm Website and I think it helps explain it better:

“CSA” stands for “Community Supported Agriculture”. At Earth Spring we offer a simple way for people to receive fresh, local produce while supporting a small local family farm.  Members who buy a share of the harvest will receive a weekly box of seasonally available vegetables. Starting in mid-June and going thru mid-October we harvest, pack and deliver your boxes to drop points in your neighborhood. When the produce is ready to pick on our farm then you will see it in your box that week… you ride the harvest with us!

This year’s 20-week season begins June 22 and ends the week of Nov 2 and delivery days in Park View are tentatively set for Thursdays.

If this sounds interesting to you, Earth Spring Farm still has memberships available. The map below shows all of their 2016 drop off points, and you can learn more about them here.
