Checking Out Alphonse Italian Market & Osteria
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to check out Alphonse Italian Market, located at 1212 U Street, NW. Overall I thought the interior was inviting and the food was good. Due to the chill in the air, I decided to start with a hot meatball sandwich, which I would order again. That said, I’m really interested in how their pizzas are. I’m also curious if anyone else has had an opportunity to eat at Alphonse. If so, what did you order and would you recommend it?
You can check out the menu at the Alphonse Web site as well as see what their hours are.
Below are a few photos I took while I was there to give you some sense of what the restaurant is like.

My partner and I have been there for pizza twice and loved it both times. We also had a couple of salads / appetizers. While I don’t recall what they were, I do remember that we were very happy with them. I’d go back for pizza in a hot minute!

Alphonse has great pizza, I’ve been there several times. I also like the hanger steak, grilled octopus, and house wine on tap! Fav pizza is the Carciofi.

I am a huge fan of this place! I ordered a lasagna, which I expected to take a longer amount of time to make. Despite this, the manager felt bad that I had to wait so long and gave me a free drink AND sea food sampler platter than was DIVINE. Great atmosphere and terrific service!
