Next Community Police Meeting Scheduled for Wednesday, November 20th
The next community crime meeting for police service areas 409/302 will be Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Fourth District sub-station, located at 750 Park Rd., NW. at 7pm. This is an excellent opportunity to build on the momentum begun at the joint 3D/4D crime meeting held in the community in October.
I know that many members of the neighborhood felt that the October meeting, though well attended, didn’t really address violent crime in the neighborhood. Considering that most of the focus from MPD was in response to community questions, I’d suggest we begin the meeting by doing just that — asking about the recent violent crimes in the area.
For example, two weekends ago MPD responded to the Park Morton area after receiving reports of gunshots. While the police recovered shell casings, they were not able to find any witnesses or victims. Also, just this past weekend there was a severe assault on the 400 b/o Lamont Street, NW.

In addition to violent crime, I’ve personally noticed an increase in theft from cars and vandalism. Two cars on Warder St were broken into on Friday and Saturday night this week. Windows on the cars were broken, and the cars were ransacked to find anything hidden.

Thanks for posting this info. My car (on Princeton Pl) was also targeted. Someone very professionally ripped my car stereo out of the dashboard. It had a detachable faceplate but apparently I had become too complacent.
