Neighborhood/Police Crime Meeting Scheduled for October 16th
A community crime meeting has been scheduled for October 16th at 7 p.m. in response to community concern about an increase in crime — particularly violent crime — in the Park View neighborhood. The meeting will be held at the 4D substation located at 750 Park Road. This meeting will be a joint Third and Fourth Police district meeting with the community.
Concern in the community has been growing for a while. Among the recent notable area crimes are:
- The murder of a Howard Student on Fairmont and Georgia Avenue on July 4th;
- A murder at Sherman and Columbia Road, also in July;
- The assault and robbery on the 400 block of Lamont Street which occurred on September 21st;
- And last weekend’s shooting in front of the Park View Rec Center and the sexual assault on the 600 block of Irving Street, NW.
The meeting at the substation is an excellent opportunity to learn more about crime in the neighborhood and partner with MPD to identify how to aggressively reduce it in the community. The only real way to effectively reduce crime in the community is to get involved. All residents are encouraged to attend.

Sad that I didn’t see a single flyer about this out in the neighborhood and I missed the meeting – could anyone post notes from what was discussed?
