Neighborhood Facade Improvements in Progress on Georgia Avenue.
Currently we have two businesses on Georgia Avenue that are undergoing facade improvements. The first is at The House at 3530 Georgia. According to the permit, the scope of work includes replacing the existing stone facade, clay tile roof and panels on sign board. From what I could see of the project upon visiting the site, the street appeal of the building already appears to be much improved.
Further south, Everlasting Life Cafe at 2928 Georgia is also getting spruced up. According to their permit, the scope of work is to renovate the fascia of the existing building, carpentry, masonry, and painting. Work includes a new awning and signage. In looking over the work in progress, it appears that the building is getting a new stone veneer as well. The detail below gives a better idea of what the building will look like when its finished. While some may not see these smaller improvements as newsworthy as major development, in some ways I think they they are even more significant.
