In inspecting the progress at 610 Newton Place recently, everything looks set for the rear half of the development to start taking shape quickly. The foundations have been poured and the interior of the original structure has been gutted.

I outlined the overall plans for this development back in May. I know that one concern expressed at that time was how this development could impact parking. In reviewing my notes and an early draft of the plan, at that time a total of 11 off-street parking spaces were planned for this development. The would be along the rear of the property along the alley. Also, as far as I can tell, this is a market rate project that is 100% by-right. So, while I’ve been in close contact with the developer, this required no ANC review or approval.
