New Traffic Signal at Georgia Avenue and Otis

Two months ago I reported that DDOT was planning to install two new traffic signals on Georgia Avenue at the intersections of Taylor Street and Otis Place. While I don’t know about the Taylor Street signal, the one at Otis Place is now installed and none too soon as area schools opened today.

The purpose of the Otis Place light is to help calm traffic for both the E.L. Haynes Public Charter School and the Ward One Senior Wellness Center to the south. Over the weekend the lights were flashing yellow, but stay alert when on this stretch of Georgia since it will probably take a while for motorists to get familiar with the new light.
