Planning for Park View Walking Tour — What Would You Like to See?

Cultural Tourism DC is already hard at work putting together this fall’s walking tours and I’m considering leading a tour of the Park View neighborhood again. Last year I ended up leading two tours — one for Cultural Tourism and one for the Annual Conference on Washington, DC Historical Studies — and both were well received. The focus of the tours were sites of interest, but there is much more to the neighborhood than that.

To help me decide what the focus on this years tour should be, I thought I’d ask the greater community what they would like to learn about or see on a tour. The areas that the tour can focus on include:

  • Sites of interest;
  • People of interest;
  • Architecture and builders; or,
  • a combination of all of the above.

This year, rather than host tours in the spring and fall, Cultural Tourism decided to organize the event in the fall only and expand the event to ten days anchored by two consecutive weekends on September 23 – October 2. The majority of tours will take place on the two weekends: Saturday and Sunday, September 24 – 25 and Saturday and Sunday, October 1 – 2 with weekday tours offered during lunchtime and after work.

Last year's walking tour was attended by approximately 27 visitors
