Fundraiser, May 11, for the Petworth Community Market

Don’t miss this!

Support your Petworth community market, and join the organizers at a fundraiser Wednesday, May 11! You won’t want to miss the outstanding list of more than 30 silent auction items, including a lamp by a local artist, a mural in your home and your own coffee-roasting lesson.

Silent Auction Items include:

  • A mural in your home, by local artist Torie Partridge of Cherry Blossom Muralworks
  • A 10” cheesecake from Paisley Fig
  • Two tickets for the Lincoln Cottage tour
  • A round of golf for two on the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) golf course
  • Drinks with the Prince of Petworth
  • Paintings from local arts group No Kings Collective
  • Gift certificates from Pho Viet, Blue Banana, Fusion, Moroni Brothers, Bentley’s, Sweet Mango, Red Derby, and more
  •  A planting plan for a front or back yard from local landscaper/planting guru Carol Herwig
  • Roast-Your-Own Coffee Session with Qualia Coffee owner, Joel Finkelstein
  • A vintage (2010) Petworth Community Market poster
  •  And many more!

Hear local DJ “The Unknown” spin tunes, and enjoy drink specials from Domku as you get your photo taken at the on-site portrait station, provided by Mike Wilkinson Photography ($25 for a professional portrait, print and digital file). All proceeds will help the Petworth Community Market purchase an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) machine in order to accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits (formerly Food Stamps). The market board hopes to raise enough to purchase the $400 machine and to help start a SNAP matching program.

What: Petworth Community Market Fundraiser/Silent Auction

Where: Domku Bar & Café, 821 Upshur Street, NW

When: Wednesday, May 11, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Join the crew, bring a friend, and connect with your neighbors! Thank you to Kera Carpenter of Domku Bar & Café for hosting the fundraiser and donating 10% of the proceeds of food & drinks to the market.

About the Petworth Community Market

The Petworth Community Market (PCM), a pending nonprofit, operates a weekly farmers market along Ninth Street, NW, at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Upshur Street, NW. The market runs Fridays, 4 PM to 8 PM, May 20 through September 30. Special events will occur throughout the summer, including chef demonstrations, artist appearances and local musicians. The market features live music from local bands on the last Friday of each month.

Situated near the newly renovated Petworth Library and amidst new development, PCM focuses on creating a marketplace where local farmers, producers, artisans and entrepreneurs can sell and trade their goods and services. Managed by a group of neighborhood volunteers, PCM strives to build community, encourage a vibrant streetscape, and create a sense of place within the Petworth neighborhood.
