Campaigns Race Toward the Primary

Jeff Smith Labor Day Cookout on Keefer Place

It would be hard to be unaware of the DC primary racing towards us on September 14th. Early voting began on August  30th.

Yesterday, Ward 1 candidate Jeff Smith had a Labor Day campaign cookout with plenty of food at his home on Keefer Place. He also had vans available to provide transportation to those wanting to vote early.

In other news, a series of nasty robo calls have begun that are undeservingly negative and nasty in their attack against Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham. Candidates Jeff Smith and Bryan Weaver have  denounced these anonymous attacks and clearly state that the perpetrator is not affiliated with their campaigns or known to them.

As one furious neighbor indicated to me, her young son answered the phone during one of these calls and didn’t need to be subjected to attacks talking about affairs, abortions, or including hate speech.
