77 Market Gets Permanent Sign

Thanks to a reader for sending in the following photo. 77 Market — located across from the Bruce Monroe Park at Georgia and Irving — finally has a permanent sign. More importantly, it lists some of the goods they carry and that they are open 24 hours. Area residents may recall that this was formerly home to the National Guard.

    Will they install a sign for the main storefront facing GA Ave – it’s just open light bulbs now.
    I cannot imagine what good this store will contribute – how many others like at are there within 4 blocks north and south? 12? 20? Cigarettes and phone cards and snacks – 24 hours? I see this as a stop-by for late night mayhem. A shame with the new park across the street. Very poor use.

      I agree with Angry Parakeet. There has to be a better use for that space. I feel bad if the owners think they are trying to do something good, but I foresee mayhem as well. 24 hours? That is all we need..

        On top of mayhem, I forsee robberies (GA Ave getaway route!)so expect to see a fortress of bars and plexi before long.
