Opening Soon: Top Spanish Cafe & Catering

It looks like Park View will soon have a new restaurant opening in the community. I came home last night to find some business cards for Top Spanish Cafe & Catering in my front door which can only mean that it should be opening soon.

I’ve been watching this development for a while now was beginning to worry that perhaps the project had stalled.

According to the ABRA Public Notice, the hearing for their liquor license is August 23, 2010. From the notice the following information is listed:

  • New restaurant serving Spanish and Continental food. Occupancy load is 54.

  • Sunday through Thursday 11 am – 2 am and Friday & Saturday 11 am – 3 am

  • Sunday through Thursday 11 am – 2 am and Friday & Saturday 11 am – 3 am

Top Spanish Cafe is located on the east side of Georgia Avenue just north of Newton Place . I’ll post an update as more is known.

Update: Upon contacting the owner, they confirm that they are shooting to open by the end of the summer and they will be serving European Spanish cuisine.

3541 Georgia Avenue has been under development for a while now, but appears poised to open in the near future

Definitely something new in the neighborhood. (Sign of the times, I guess.) Been looking for a good place to get some real tex-mex style food and I think I found it. (no more trekking down to Dupont Circle or Capitol Hill!)

The food has a really ‘authentic taste’, something that I’ve missed from a lot of the Mexican, Tex-Mex or “spanish” places I’ve been to in the area. The menu is not all Mexican though. They’ve got salads, soups (aparagus and shrimp soup! yum!), all kinds of seafood and even filet mignon (which I’m gonna try next time I come). Plus it’s not expensive, which is my favorite part!

If you’re in the area (or even if you’re not) check this place out. It’s worth the trip.
