Current state of Rec Center

I’m sure many people are wondering about the status of the new mural for the Rec Center. Had everything gone to the original plan, it would have been well under way by now.

After the project received the endorsement of the ANC on April 14th, it then needed to be approved by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities at the April Commissioners meeting. The Commissioners weigh in on public arts projects in the District. They recommended design changes to the mural, which mural artist Helina Metaferia has worked to incorporate into the mural.

Below is the design as reworked to incorporate the Commissioners’ recommendations along with the previous design and the original mural.
