Yule Lane Parade Once Opened Christmas Season on Georgia Avenue

In the late 1930s, the Park View Business Mens’ Association organized a “Yule Lane” along Georgia Avenue.

The image of Santa to the right is from the Dec. 3, 1937, Washington Post. That year the “Yuletide Lane” parade ran from Irving Street to Quincy Street.

The following year, the Yule Lance parade occurred on December 13th and ran from Park Road to Rock Creek Church Road.

It was not merely a neighborhood event, but rather a celebration that included participants from around the city.
