Brick Alley Update

Alley of 600 block RCCR and QuebecDespite the fast action of some neighbors stopping the City from repaving the alleys between the 600 blocks of Princeton Place and Rock Creek Church Road with asphalt and the mistaken impression that the alleys would be re-bricked at the end of July which prompted a vastly premature Dear PoP post praising Mayor Fenty for work that has still not begun, it seems that some action may soon begin on the alley front.

While one reliable source indicated that it could be years before the alleys in question would see a work crew, another source reports that work could begin as early as mid-September.

To add to the alley re-bricking  confusion, the alley bordered by the 700 block of Rock Creek Church Road, Georgia Avenue, Warder Street, and the 700 block of Quebec is now in the mix. This alley was first placed on the list for re-bricking in 2005.

It’ll be interesting to see when work begins and where. I’ll be keeping my eye on this project and its progress.
