Van & Frank Barber Shop Closed
The former Van & Frank Barber Shop at 3213 Georgia Avenue recently closed … or at least that is how it appears. The building on the southeast corner of Keefer Place and Georgia is empty and it has been freshly painted.
I’ve heard absolutely nothing about this property so I can only guess about future tenants. But, as 3211 Georgia next door is undergoing a major renovation it looks like new life on this block is eminent. Mothership being located just a block to the north should also help bring additional foot traffic once it opens.
I’ve often thought that this property, along with the one across the street to the north, would be ideal for a Room 11 type of business. Very few properties along Georgia Avenue have space for outdoor dining, as this property has.

This is going to be a shop that sells (i think indian) arts jewelry and craft items. Van and frank were doing more than hair cuts, open until after 11 on Sundays with groups of strange people hanging out on the walk, etc. i wont miss that.
I also heard that petworth liqours and a couple of buildings accross Georgia will be replaced by a large condo building. Id love to hear more details if you get any.

I spoke with the owner yesterday–It’s going to be a Tibetan gift shop. it’s apparently the second location of a shop located in Adams Morgan, and the owner lives up on Quebec St.
