July “The Avenue” Progress Photos
Below are progress photographs from July 10, 2012, of The Avenue project located on the southwest corner of Georgia and Newton Place. While the building itself didn’t sustain any major damage from the July 2nd derecho that hit Washington, the building’s opening was pushed back a little due to the storm. As I understand it, Pepco rightly focused on getting area residents’ power restored and that delayed some of the work getting Pepco service to the building.

I wish they would hurry up and finish already so my family can move in. I mean it’s like they are taking there time with this project i wish it was over already so i can move in. I talked to the project manager kent and she tells me that you have to make a certain amount a year to qualify she didn’t give me a time frame as to when the whole project would be done but hopefully it’s finished by the end of the summer break what’s your thoughts on it being finished by the next 2-3 months ? And what’s the deal on the new safeway on georgia ave are they suppose to be doing reno on the old on this year ?

Any word on the “cross walk” that the city painted on to Newton? Looks like they might put in a stop sign or a light. If it’s a crosswalk that’s going to take away yet more parking.
Thanks!

Hi Josh:
Thanks for your comment, I too am awaiting move-in. I sent another request to Kent regarding the posting of more photos of the inside of the building, preferably for me, a one bedroom. I wish we were provided some sort of building plan, which would give more details and apartment numbers, etc. As you know, the units are assigned, and not selected by the tenants — how frustrating.
Again, thanks for your comment, as I have been trying to find forums regarding this project. I will often check in for updates.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

You welcome taylor and thanks for replying well you prolly know more than me i am awaiting more information but when i had a conversation with the project manager she told me the apartments are on a first come situation. You can always visit http://www.theavenue3506.com for more information on the open units. I heard it’s already a long waiting list and also i heard it’s people who are currently in the moving process to move in so now i am just waiting. They sent me a letter in the mail with just general information. So i’m currently awaiting some sort of update on the units and the finish date.

Are there any details available on the next phase of this project? This is a part of the Park Morton re-development, right?

Does anyone know anything further about the occupancy date and the units? I heard they were sending out invitations for viewing of the building and units, however, am uncertain as to when. I also heard, both the units and building are beautiful and ready for move-in, however, am not sure of the actual date — can someone reach out with more detailed info?
Thanks!

Hello Josh,
Sorry for the delay. No, I did not call the property manager but have heard they are holding an open house, commencing this week. Have you heard anything or have applied or perhaps, have seen any new pix?
Thanks!
