770 Park Road Renovations Underway
After being on the marking for over a year, 770 Park Road sold on March 29, 2012, for $1,675,000 according to the DC Real Property database. Despite UIP’s interest in the building in April 2011, they ultimately decided not to purchase the property.
I had a chance to meeting with a representative of the new owner of the building and got a quick tour of the interior over the weekend. The building is in the very earlier stages of renovation, but the one great thing about it that I learned for sure is that the exterior will be restored as sensitively as possible. The representative I met with has a great appreciation for the building’s beauty and left me every impression that they are more focused on repair and maintenance than doing any harm to the building’s facades.
Clearly there is still a lot to learn about this project, but I’m very excited by what I know so far and look forward to seeing one of our more prominent older buildings receiving the TLC it so richly deserves.

I’m also wondering what the plans are. I live on that block, and I just hope they do a nice job.
