If you missed last Friday’s Washington Post, you probably also missed its mention of the Blue Banana’s Thursday Yappy Hours. Their Dog-Friendly Happy Hour started as a once a month charity night. It turned out to be so popular that the Blue Banana has made it a weekly Thursday event. One Thursday a month will continue to benefit the Washington Animal Rescue League.
The details from the Washington Post are below:
The back patio at Blue Banana “has been dog-friendly since the day we opened,” says bar owner Jamie Hess. Oscar, his almost 3-year-old Portuguese water dog, may have had something to do with the decision. While pups have always been welcome, the bar decided to make it official in May by hosting a Yappy Hour every Thursday night. Dogs socialize while snacking on Milk-Bones and lapping from bowls of water; meanwhile, humans can get any drink in the house — beer, wine or mixed drinks — for $4.
Once per month, the bar donates 20 percent of the proceeds to the Washington Animal Rescue League. Upcoming charity nights include June 14, July 12 and Aug. 16.
