2910 Georgia Avenue Looking Good

As 2910 Georgia nears completion, I wanted to post an updated photo to show its street appearance. I, for one, think the building is turning out to be rather attractive and really like the color they’ve chosen for the bay windows. It’s so nice to find someone who isn’t afraid of color and didn’t paint it white, cream, or yellow.

My ONLY complaint is the bricked up windows. I really can’t imagine all the people involved thought (Architect, city, etc.) that was okay.
Other than that I do have to say it looks very nice.

As I recall from being in the building during construction, it’s the elevator shaft? But some moderately decorative textured brick coursing would have done a lot to help. Eric – maybe you could come up with a fix? Prince of Petworth posters flayed the building’s appearance based on the “bricked up windows.” I agree that the color is attractive.

The color and design of the bay windows are all a step above many of the new residential buildings in the city. It looks like an apartment building once more — something that most of the new buildings have eschewed in the race to all look exactly alike while tossing tradition in the trashcan. But yes, those bricked in windows are terrible. There had to be a better solution (that wouldn’t have necessarily cost more money.)

One option might be growing a vine or something on the bricked up windows wall, though ivy tends to creep into the bricks and make them unstable. It’s very noticeable unfortunately.

Agreed! My husband and I were talking about how it fit the neighborhood with the subdued paint color. Looks nice and classic.
