Donations Sought for Holiday Food Drives
There are a couple of holiday food drives in the area that I wanted to bring to everyone’s attention. While holidays are commonly associated with family and food, not all families have the means for a big Thanksgiving dinner.
To assist families that otherwise would not have food for a holiday meal, several places throughout the city are having food drives to create Thanksgiving food baskets. There are two locations in Park View for anyone who may be able to make a donation.
The first is the Park View Recreation Center, 693 Otis Place, NW. They have donation boxes set up just inside the Warder Street entrance and will be taking donations up until Thanksgiving day.
The other location is the 3D Police Substation located at 750 Park Road, NW. Donations will be accepted there through the end of Monday, November 22nd.
Suggested canned goods include corn, peas, beans, yams, or other similar choices.
