Work on the bar at 3632 Georgia Avenue — located next door to the Looking Glass Lounge — is moving ahead and is reportedly on pace for an October, 2010, opening.

In comparing the construction with the plans shared with the community in September, 2009, very little has changed. In fact, the only significant change is with the name.

Originally, the development was proposed as a higher-end sports lounge named the Green Room. While the developer confirms that this is still the theme and name of the project, the bar itself will be called the Blue Banana after the bar in the film Pretty Woman.

While the photograph below may look like the development is a long way off, it shouldn’t be long before the walls are closed up. After that, the majority of work left will be largely cosmetic and move quickly.
