Random Street Art
Something that has come up in more than one public meeting this year is the lack of civic art in this section of the city. While Lower Georgia Avenue has a few murals — including the new one being created at the Bruce Monroe Park — there are no sculptures that come to mind. There are a few ephemeral pieces of street art that can be seen from time to time. So, until such time as more permanent expressions of art and culture exist in and around the neighborhood, these will be the occasional expressions adding cheer and color to the lives of passersby.
… and here’s something I found painted on the sidewalk at the intersection of 7th, Shepherd, and New Hampshire Avenue, NW.
What kind of art would you like to see in the neighborhood and where should it go?

Almost anything but spray paint on the public sidewalks.
