Top Spanish Restaurant: A Great Addition to Park View

The avocado salad was large and delicious

Friday, September 10, was the opening of Top Spanish Restaurant located just north of Newton at 3541 Georgia Avenue. A new restaurant on Georgia Avenue is not an everyday occurrence, so I had to check it out. I’m happy to report that I was not disappointed.

The atmosphere was pleasant, the decor was attractive, and the food was good. I was also appreciative that the flamenco music playing in the background was at a low enough level that one could both enjoy it and have a conversation. It is definitely a place I’ll return to.

The grilled calamari had a nice mix of flavors

The soft opening menu indicates that the owner is still deciding on the right mix of food for a permanent menu, yet if it is any indication of what is to come it looks to have a good variety and balance between meat, seafood, and salads as well as other offerings. One thing I was particularly excited to find was grilled calamari.

Serving sizes are generous, so if you are someone whose eyes are bigger than their stomach, you might want to consider splitting a salad or appetizer.

I’d like to know if anyone else has had the opportunity to try the food yet and get a larger sense of others’ dining experiences.

they used to do the catering at my sons school so I’ve been looking forward to the Cade opening

i had the black bean soup (not quite knock my socks off, but good enough, and I’m a BBS snob)

and the avocado salad (enough for 3), good salad, but large even for entree size

my son had a quesadilla. The guac was ok.

Steamed vegetables were zucchini cauli & broc.

His mom had a veg burrito platter. Huge looking, she didn’t seem thrilled or disappointed

I hope folks are sharing their feedback so the cafe has it’s best shot of lasting

Wow, spellcheck. i should add that we try to keep vegetarian, so the picking were as such.

Menu looked impressive for carnivores–calamari, camarones, etc.

i would go again and maybe take my parents. Not sure about a date. Shoot, now i’ve dared myself to try.

I went last night and was pleasantly surprised by the interior–the place doesn’t look like much from the outside but it’s very attractive inside. Great to have a real sit-down restaurant on that stretch of Georgia. Service was excellent, music was tasteful and at a reasonable level, food was a mixed bag: wife’s scallops and shrimp were very good, my rack of lamb was a little disappointing. But the price was right and I give them some slack since they are still clearly figuring their menu out. And they gave us a very healthy whiskey pour. We’ll be back.

We went Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t expecting something so nice inside. The service was great. My steak was delicious. My boyfriend’s fajita was pretty good. The quesadilla we ordered for our toddler was also good. I really want to try the paella some time! Good addition to the neighborhood!
